Gourmet Gardens has over 15 years’ experience in certified organic and fair-trade farming with small farmers and processing and exporting of specialty crops.

Its vision is to be renowned for outstanding products that are produced in harmony with nature and in a lasting and fair relationship with local producers.

Growing of crops is conducted through certified out-grower schemes and on its own plantation. To assure the highest quality and full traceability, all crops are purchased fresh and processed in our own factory.

The workplace is Kangulumira in Kayunga District. The work involves regular field visits in surrounding districts.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

In cooperation with MD, the Field Operations Manager is in charge of planning and controlling operations with out-growers groups, at the processing factory, and at the farm.

Supervising operations and logistics of the different sections.

Farm

In cooperation with Farm Managers, assuring timely and efficient planning of farm operations in line with organic and social standards.

Monitoring and reporting farm production estimates and farm produce harvesting, organizing sales.

Factory

Ensuring correct implementation of the factory HACCP system.

Overseeing accurate and timely execution and consolidation of day-to-day processing and stock and inventory records and submission of records to HQ.

Security / facility management.

Our growers

Coordinate with Head of ICS, assure correct and timely planning, implementation and reporting of works relating to Internal Control System (incl.

extension work, internal inspections, Yield estimates and other tasks related to ICS).

Coordinating crop buying from farmers.

Financials

Organizing and supervising correct and timely financial planning and reporting by field staff and at factory and farm.

Monitoring cash books.

In cooperation with HQ, supervising of farm and factory management and extension staff, incl. leave, planning and disciplinary cases.

Evaluating management staff, performance reporting.

In cooperation with factory and farm managers, based on work plans identify worker needs, supervising recruitment and lay-off, presence reporting, training, counseling, and disciplinary action.

Other

Ensuring maintenance and repairs at the factory and of equipment used in the field.

Liaising with utilities and local government agencies (security, health, and safety agencies, etc.)

>Requirements

A university degree from a recognized institution (BSc. or higher)

3-5 years of experience in managing operations, preferably in agriculture or related sectors

Fluency in Luganda and English

Proven experience in managing staff teams

Good numerical skills, proven experience in data capturing and inventory control

Valid driving permit
